Apparently, a lot can happen in a month

So, once again I let this blog fall at the wayside. I think I'm ok with that. But now that I have learned a little more about photography and editing, I'm looking back at some of these pictures and laughing. Oh my, the editing on even the few underneath this now makes me want to gouge my eyes out. And to think, at the time I was so proud of those. Such is learning.

So, Lilly is now 14 months old- holy cow. She's pretty awesome, too. Running all over the place, refusing naps, signing her little heart out...she really is too flippen cool for words. Here is a new picture of her that hopefully wont make you wanna smack for it's horrible editing or blurriness and of those other beginners mistakes I was (still am) guilty of.

I should'a started doing this a while ago

I have decided that the MetroParks are my new favorite place to be. For those of you who don't know the area, it's a valley, and a gorgeous one at that. We went today as a spur of the moment kinda trip and had another great time. Daddy to Maggie down by the creek to play and she loved it. She finally goes in the water! I missed it today because we wanted to take pictures in the clearing, or the baseball field, whatever you wanna call it. Did I mention that she walks now? Like, all over the place. I would say she's about 50/50 with her crawling and walking. I love it. I guess that makes her toddler, huh? ::sniff sniff::

Oh, and today was first time shooting in RAW. I think I'm a fan. I still dont quite understand the whole editing aspect of the change but I'm trying.

Right after she woke up we decided to go outside and eat a banana for a snack. Well, halfway through, she decided that she was way too cool for that banana so she threw it on the ground, laughed maniacally and then made this face:

Before she showed that banana who was boss. So innocent looking. Poor banana, it had no idea what was coming.

I super love her, times like, infinity.

Teething sucks

But we are now the proud new owners of, not one, but TWO shiny lateral incisors. She's the coolest vampire looking baby in town. So these bring our total to 4. Woot.
Here she is on Labor Day at the beach. I suck at updating, I know. I'm going to try to be better.

The perfect day

Our day began with a coffee (for Scott and I, of course) and a lovely 2 hour walk in the Metro Parks. You could not ask for better pre-fall weather.

My sister is having her second child, a boy, due to grace this earth in December.

But we love her a lot. Her name is Estelle and she's my best friends daughter, who was born 8.28.10, and since I don't know if mom would appreciate her picture being on the internet...here are her sweet little feet. This image is SOOC because my computer is acting funny and I cant get the edited one to post. But, she's still got the cutest little feet around.

Welcome the newest member of our family

This, ladies and gentlemen, is Maggie.


Maggie is our 5.5 week old yellow lab. She's starting to develop her little personality and is quite a feisty little thing. I may go as far to say that she is the cutest [non human] thing in the entire world. Needless to say, we're in love.

And so Lilly doesn't feel left out...

Sometimes, you just gotta play

I was walking out the door to take Lilly to the park when in pulls mom with my Sadie and my niece. The park just isn't the same unless you take a bunch of kids with you, right?

It's getting hard to keep track

Of the days, that is. I'm not giving up on my documentation of her first year but it's so hard for me to have to count the days (I'm that sleep deprived) that I'm making this more of a baby blog, I think. Anyway, here are some pics from today.

Day 132

Here's one from Tuesday. My husband set up that...oh, what's it called? Oh yes, the slip and slide! Can you believe they still make those? Inevitably, someone always gets hurt, yet they are so much fun. Anyway, Lilly decided she might like to have a go at playing in the water. Not 10 seconds later my niece (God love her) splashed her in the face and as I quickly swiped the water off of her, her hair ended up like this.


Add in the lip pucker and I would say that's a perfect Blue Steel look if I have ever seen one. What do you think?

Day 130

Happy 4th of July! I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday. I have to admit that I was so insanely busy today that I hardly took any pictures at all.

We had a nice day. We started off by making blue fireworks pancakes followed by baths and the parade in town. [Can I just tell you that walking 1/2 a mile pushing 90lbs of grown girls in a double stroller in the 95* blazing heat was a really bad idea...talk about pooped.] It was so hot I started to be concerned about the baby so we left early. No one seemed to care because they had their bags of candy and we went home to air conditioning and popsicles! Later on after naps we drove over to my mother in laws house to watch the fireworks from her yard. The baby did well considering it was nearly 10pm before they started. My husband was even able to get off work and make it there with only minutes to spare. We had a great time!


God has blessed me with many gifts. Pancake decorating is not one of them.

Want the recipe?
1. Make pancake batter
2. Add blue food coloring- don't worry it did not turn anyone blue
3. Draw on pancakes with frosting- I used the kind in the can that squeezes out
4. Sprinkle with powdered sugar

I know it sounds super complicated but I bet you're just smart enough to figure it out ;) Surely we aren't the first people to do this but I have never seen it done- we just thought of it- so if you really need some kind of in depth recipe, google might just have the answer if you ask her really nice.

Day 128

You know how there is always that one ugly party of the yard that you strategically leave out and avoid when taking pictures? Yea...this is that part. But there is something about this that I absolutely love. The ugliness of it all seems beautiful. Almost county'esk that gives that warm, home feeling. But that's just me :)


And after 12.8 seconds of playing with the Lightroom free trial, I am hooked.

Day 126

With August rapidly approaching it was time to do a birthday photo shoot for her invites! I have been looking forward to this for months. Here are just a few. I really am having a hard time picking which ones I like the best! These aren't in the running for the card but are some of the ones I liked. I hope you like them too!

Now, you can't laugh or poke fun, it was my very first time, and I know there is still a lot I can do with this picture [like get rid of that aweful tilt] but I am literally so excited I can't stand it. Thank you so much to my lovely friend Pam over at Pieces Of Me for talking me through it step by step. Seriously guys, click the link and look at her gorgeous girls and awesome pictures- you wont regret it.

And I'll add this because it kinda sorta makes my heart melt. Pam edited this one for me over the phone since I sent her a different pic then the one we were suppose to be working on together. Oops! But hey, I got 2 for the price of 1 and you can't beat that :)

Day 124

Her mobility has "ruined" my ability to take a nice, lovely face shot. And her inability to keep anything on, or near, her face is just insane. She has added that hat to her list of dislikes- a small but mighty list that consists of all things wonderful that moms love. *Sigh*



But you know who ROCKED that hat? My niece.

Day 122

She found my scarf on the couch and wrapped it around her shoulders then nonchalantly crawled away and began playing


And if you look [not so] closely, there is a squiggly desaturated line throughout the picture. I did that on accident when I first started to edit it and then continued on and forgot about it. Oops.
